Kamran Baig has over 35 years experience as a front line clinician, and of managing many aspects of the necessary healthcare systems that run alongside.

As International Proctor for cardiac valve disease, he has worked in approximately 50 major hospitals in approximately 28 countries. He has trained thousands of junior and senior doctors including through establishing two major international professional medical training courses for both doctors-in-training and consultant doctors.

He has recognised expertise in most aspects of cardiac care, including coronary artery disease (angina and heart attack evaluation and stents), advanced heart failure treatments, cardiac rhythm disorders (palpitations), percutaneous structural heart disease treatments (valve disorders, atrial appendage), high and low blood pressure disorders, cardiomyopathies, autonomic disorders (POTS).

By working closely together with expert colleagues, he is able to help to treat where appropriate, with advanced cardiac device therapies (cardiac resynchronisation devices, implanted defibrillators), cardiac ablation therapies (atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia), minimally invasive cardiac surgical techniques (minimally invasive "keyhole" bypass surgery and heart valve replacement)

Professional Qualifications & Medical Excellence Awards

Kamran Baig studied undergraduate Medicine at the Victoria University of Manchester, qualifying in 1989 and being awarded the degree of Bachelor of Medicine, MB; and Bachelor of Surgery, ChB., with 4 speciality honours and distinctions.

Under the guidance of distinguished Professors McKenna and Camm at St Georges Hospital Medical School, University of London, he studied in the clinical and basic science fields related to Cardiomyopathes. This resulted in his first identifying the earliest clinical and genetic abnormalities in asymptomatic relatives of people with Dilated Cardiomyopathy, both previously unknown. This work resulted in the award of a Doctorate in Medicine degree, MD, from the University of Manchester in 1997.

His major postgraduate training in clinical medicine and advanced cardiology was at the Royal Brompton Hospital London, and St Georges Hospital London.

He has been appointed as a Specialist and Consultant Cardiologist since 2002.

He has been awarded Fellowships of:

  • The American College of Cardiology
